Chronicles of Narnia-the Movie
I went to see the new Narnia movie the day after Christmas. I dragged my husband with me even though he usually doesn't like "kids" movies. I enjoyed it but wasn't overwhelmed by it. The Chronicles of Narnia are some of my all time favorite books. "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" is one of the first books I remember my mom reading to me and she was working her way through all of them. By the time we got to the 3rd or 4th one I had learned to read and was reading them on my own. I've reread them more than any other books. I guess having loved them so much there's just no way the movie could be as powerful nor I could I love it as much. And because I grew up reading voraciously I just feel that the books are better than the movies in almost all cases. The only exception I've found is "A River Runs Through It." The book was a chaotic mess of stories that I didn't really care for and I thought it was great movie. Orson Scott Card wrote a review of "Narnia" and said he thought the movie was better than the book and I would have to say that I heartily disagree with him. I was rather peeved that they put stuff in the movie that wasn't in the book. But if you go to it just as a movie it is great. The actors were all really good, the cinematography was beautiful, and the special effects were amazing. Enjoy!
